Program summary
Knowledge on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses (BBVs) is constantly changing as new information emerges - and this program provides an update on these, particularly HIV and hepatitis C.
Produced in collaboration with the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM).
This broadcast covers:
- Current epidemiology, screening and testing guidelines.
- Practical techniques for best practice.
- Treatment, monitoring and management issues.
- Available resources and services.
- Culturally appropriate ways of discussing sexually transmitted diseases and blood borne viruses with Indigenous people.
- Issues affecting health workers in rural, remote and urban settings.
There is a two-part case study, which looks at STI screening and testing in a clinical setting and opportunities for prevention in these settings.
